IEC for custom-made modules
We aim to certify the entire range of our custom-made PV modules under IEC standards. While there may be exceptions, we offer the possibility to extend our existing certificates to cover new materials and design parameters, ensuring that even highly customized solutions meet rigorous safety and performance requirements.

Some IEC norms that apply to custom-made modules:
  • IEC 61215 | Design qualifications and type approvement
  • IEC 61730 | Module safety qualification
Building norms
Our products are thoroughly tested to comply with applicable building norms, ensuring they meet industry standards for safety and durability. We can also expand our certifications to cover new materials and designs, allowing custom solutions to fully adhere to building regulations.

Some building norms that apply to BIPV-applications include:
  • EN 14449 | Glass in building - Laminated glass and laminated safety glass
  • EN 12600 | Resistance against impact
Quality checks for colored PV
Few, if any, official norms specifically address colored PV modules. However, we recognize the unique quality risks that can arise with these products. To address this, we have developed a series of in-house tests to ensure the quality and durability of our colored modules are consistently upheld and guaranteed.

Some of our quality controls include:
  • Batch color consistency (avoids unwanted checkered facades and power mismatch)
  • Mismatch prevention software for translating multi-colored images to PV modules (prevents fire hazards from hotspots)
  • Mismatch detection in multicolored modules
  • Quality inspection below the graphic layer
  • Degradation and aging tests for coloring agents
Our quality policy
For custom-made colored PV modules, spot-checks are simply not sufficient. While spot checks may work for mass production, a 100% batch check is absolutely necessary for custom projects.

That's why we conduct the following checks on every single module:
  • High potential test
  • I-V measurement (Flash test)
  • Electroluminescence image (EL-test)
  • Color measurement


In addition to these, we have several other built-in quality checks that ensure the highest standards. You're more than welcome to visit our factory in Roosendaal to see these qaulity processes in action.
Which certificates do we have?
We hold many of the certifications mentioned and adhere to the relevant norms, but the specific certifications can vary depending on the design you choose. Our Solar Suite will display which certificates apply to your custom module.

Mismatch-free module design
Preventing mismatch in colored PV modules is crucial, as it directly impacts safety by reducing the risk of hotspots.

Hotspots can develop when different colors in a module lead to uneven electrical performance, creating areas of intense heat. These hotspots are a serious fire hazard, even in robust glass-glass modules.

Kameleon Solar's design translation software meticulously avoids mismatch, ensuring a uniform and safe module. This is why we offer a mismatch-free guarantee, prioritizing safety in every module we create.
Fire safety
Fire safety is a top priority for us, and we have already conducted extensive testing to ensure our products meet stringent safety standards. Additionally, we offer the flexibility to extend our fire safety testing to cover new products, designs, and applications as needed. This allows us to ensure that every custom solution we provide maintains the highest level of fire safety.

For fire safety, the following building norms and IEC norms typically apply:
  • EN 13501 | Fire test for building materials
  • IEC 61730 | Module safety qualification
Heat soaked tempered glass
Heat soaking is an additional process for tempered glass that can help reduce the risk of spontaneous breakage caused by nickel sulfide inclusions. While not always required, it can enhance the durability and safety of PV modules in certain conditions. We offer heat soaking as an optional service, and its necessity depends on the specific demands of your project. If needed, we can help you decide whether this extra step would benefit the reliability of your solar modules.
